Hi, I’m Valentina, founder of The Green Frugalista.
This space is where I share my reflections, experiences and make-dos, hoping to help you with everyday sustainability and inspire you to live a greener life.
I started back in 2020 making my own yogurt at home and it was a little epiphany: magic could happen putting together some warm milk and a sparkle of little creatures in powder!
From that moment, I didn’t stop experimenting. I began making body lotions, household cleaning products, learning visible mending techniques… a whole new world opened up before me, one that was practical, creative, and unexpectedly empowering.
And along the way, I discovered some beautiful, surprising side effects:
Calm and joy in working with your hands: few activities are as grounding and rewarding as making something yourself. It slows you down, helps you focus, and brings a quiet satisfaction that no store-bought product can match.
Less waste: by creating rather than buying, you naturally reduce the flood of single-use packaging that fills our homes and landfills.
Understanding what you use, and what’s in it; making things teaches you how products are put together, which ingredients can harm the environment or your health and how to choose safer, smarter or bespoke options.
Freedom from marketing hype; when you know how something works, you will no longer be influenced by every claim on a label: “perfect whites.” “miracle cure” “100% natural.” You develop critical thinking and gain confidence in vour own choices.
Real savings; instead of buying endless processed products, you invest in raw ingredients and use what you already have on hand. Over time, that adds up for your wallet and for the planet.
Because small actions matter. And when many of us take them, their impact can be surprisingly powerful.
